About the name ‘Kizhenaabeg’
The word Kizhenaabeg means “The Benevolent Indians, Humans’. This name was used for young men from the ages of 20-40 who would contribute whatever they hunted, fished or trapped to the community they belonged to in order to help people who were in need. After this period, they would be considered leaders of their people.
